Yes, there's really going to be one!

On 2. June 2009 Camelot let the cat out of the bag at the E3: Indeed there currently some good work going on on another part of the Golden Sun series! And with that made a dream come true for every Golden Sun player and those who have played it:

The official press release was as follows:

Golden Sun™ DS: After going dark six years ago, 2010 will see a new dawn. Golden Sun DS updates the popular portable Golden Sun role-playing series with an impressive graphical style. This installment follows the story of the previous heroes’ descendants and immerses players into the magic of its adventure by pushing the boundaries of intuitive touch-screen controls. Golden Sun DS is playable on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems.

So much for the information about the content of the new game! As you can see you won't be controlling the old adepts around Isaac and Felix anymore, but their descendants. But to also give the excited fans something for the eye there has also a playable demo been made public, besides some artworks, of which there also exist screenshots and videos.

A detailed video of the demo can be found on Youtube. It's already looking very promising even in this early stage, isn't it? So the release date of Golden Sun DS is currently set to 2010... Still lots of time in which quite a few things can still happen. The GS Archive will definitely keep an eye on everything and provide you will all the new information coming through to our joy!

Old Rumours: Golden Sun 3

Virtually everyone was already close to thinking the Golden Sun series had been put to rest, because there wasn't a lack of one thing until June 2009: Rumours about a supposed Golden Sun 3, and futile ones at that. Half amused and half mourning you could find faked pictures and so-called news every now and then on the web, which were always nice to look at, but unfortunately never true. Because there had never been any official statements by Camelot – at least it was that for seven long years! But then again it's even nicer to know now that there's a sequel truly in the works. In the following the probably best-known fake of all during that time:
