Chapter 10: Through the Mogall Forest

Fortunately said Mogall Forest isn't that very far away from the temple. Actually it's even only a stone's throw south of it! :-) Cross the bridge and you're already there. A little breather before the game's second (and luckily also the last!) forest, though.

Right after you've entered the forest you'll see an ape in front of you who'll be hiding in a tree stump as soon as it sees you. Now what has Master Nyunpa just told you? Correct, scare up the animals of the forest and follow them! And you can anger the animal a little with the Force psynergy you've gotten in the grotto. You can learn it by giving the 'Orb of Force' to one of your characters and have it equipped. Now position yourself so that you face the tree stump and let it bang! The Force will automatically find its target. The scared ape will jump out of the shaken tree stump and flee into the southern forests, and you should follow it!

By the way it's also rather important to alway take the right paths here, because once you pick a wrong one you'll only go around in circles here. Okay, so the next chapter can be simply walked through. What follows is a slightly bigger area again. Run over the little wooden bridge before you and you'll face another hollowed tree stump before you. Why shouldn't it work again?? Well, indeed another ape will jump out of it, but this one won't be too pleased at all abour your treatment of him, and instead of fleeing it'd rather like to attack you! Tee hee! =] I'm sorry, but I just couldn't keep that experience from you. So make it quick with the little fellow.

Required business to progress here is a little tree trunk rolling from your part. Roll forth the one directly before you, it will then roll against a few tiny tree stumps. After that roll the horizontally lying trunk near you south. Run to the other side of the first trunk and roll it back again. Now the way is free for the other trunk! Roll it in the diretion of the river and it'll neatly splash into the water, for your benefit. You can now jump to the other riverside. Furthermore you can use your Catch psynergy to grab a Nut hanging from a nearby tree. The only thing you'll have to watch here is to stand in a convenient position!

On the other side you can see the next tree stump here. Luckily that one won't have any slightly aggressive inhabitant this time, via a Force wave from your part the ape will flee from you in panic. In eastern direction, let's follow it!

Now follows a sort of walk-through area that'll lead you to the next section. This one's kind of crossways, you could go in any direction here! Question is, whereto? Two tree stump, two further possibilities! The ape in the left hideout will flee southwards, the right one to the east... take the eastern way first. You'll then come to an area with a pond, a little island with a chest in its middle lying in it. Take an Apple from it! Then go back again.

Consequently on the southern way remains! First of all go through another simply passage again. You should stand before a bridge next, though don't cross it right now, but take the fork to the east. In front of you there are a tree trunk and a stone. You can't roll the trunk away as a stone blocks the path. Move it thus and you can continue your way. Soon there'll be another trunk before you again, simply roll it forth. Another one next to it should be rolled left, then you can proceed. You'll catch sight of a Venus Djinni! It'll want to fight against you, though, so save beforehand just to make sure! As the little guy is on possession of some very strong psynergy abilities. But you'll surely be victorious, then 'Quartz' is yours!

But the path you pursued won't lead you to the forest's exit, so another one has to be it! You'll have to find it out now. Inmidsts of the river there is a small island with a big tree stump, which I'm sure has already awoken your interest. To get to it you'll have to first roll the horizintal tree trunk upwards, then the vertically lying one the the left, so that it falls into the water. Stand in front of the stump, the rest you should know by now! Whoops, the ape jumped into another stump? Run back and cross the river via a little wooden bridge, then go on. You'll then be on the other side and also before said stump! If you now scare it up it'll finally flee to the forest's east.

Follow the animal, and after a new passage you'll come to a crossways again. This time there are even three animal hideouts here! The ape in the right tree stump will attack you when disturbed in his tranquillity, the one in the middle run south and the right one flee eastwards. First thing interesting for you is the way east. Take that path and you'll come to an area with a chest. You have to move the stone into the hollow and roll the tree trunk right after it. In the chest you'll find the useful 'Elven Shirt', which can turn even the slowest of characters into true sprinting aces. When you have the short go back to the crossways. Now take the northern path. It may be true that it won't lead you anywhere, but you can still find a Psynergy Stone here. Use it to fill your PP up! You can only find one such stone per visit of the forest. Afterwards go back to the crossways and take the path to the south.

Now a bigger forest section follows again. Cross the wooden bridge and move the stone before you into the hollows. Afterwards you can roll the tree trunk into the water. Jump over to the tree stump and shake it a little with your Force. The ape will thereupon jump into a more southern stump. To reach it you'll have to – just follow the normal path in this area! It will lead you to a sort of tree strump maze with a few wooden trunks that need to be moved. Whereas 'maze' may be the wrong word here, as the whole thing's actually pretty obvious and linear. You'll even automatically roll the tree trunk that'll then roll into the water and let you jump over to the other side of the water. Scare the ape up again and it will flee to the south.

The next area's special. That's because here a quite big and strong guy awaits adventurers like you at the end of it! Which of course means you should save exactly now! Go further, cross a little wooden bridge and be prepared for something big... First the ape will jump out and flee southwards. Follow it, but suddenly something will make the tree stump behind you start to shake... And the reason won't waste time and jump towards you – it's a giant ape! And apparently the cute little monkey from before has told it some things about you! =)

Killer Ape
Killer Ape Killer Ape appeared! HP: 1000
The 'Big Mama' of all monkeys in the Mogall Forest, so to say, who really wants to give you a good beating for having plagues their kids. But fortunately this wannable King Kong's not too hard at all. In contrast to Saturos the Killer Ape doesn't have any strong range attacks, the only really strong actions do always target a single characters only. This should give you enough time to heal when required. The true strength of this ape apparently lies in its immense quickness, though this won't be of much use for it of you use your strongest psynergy against it. Choose ones of the like of Ragnarok, Heat Wave or Planet Diver. (Should one of your characters wield the Artic Blade you may want to let him attack, as the unleash's possible strength reduction comes in handy here). The battle can even become a true snorefest with the Sleep psynergy (e.g. Ivan's). But in any case, I'm always of the opinion that whoever's able to defeat Saturos will hardly ever find a moment of desperation when it's against the Killer Ape. It's simply weaker. For your victory receive 460 experience points, 1500 coins as well as the Douse Drop, a psynergy item!

After the battle you'll find yourself on the bridge again. Only a few steps still separate you from the end of the firest! Go a little south and you'll be on the World Map again.

How pleasant it is to be out of this forest, isn't it? =)
